Responsibility is the price for freedom

Freedom exists only within a framework of rules. Freedom is simply an opportunity to find a definition for yourself, a true, authentic individuality, and a joy in making the world around you a little better, a little more beautiful. Excise and enjoy your freedom in true sense.
  • Like so many things in life, freedom is not free. We cannot justifiably have one without the other. The more comprehensive and diversified the social order, the greater the responsibility and the freedom of the individual.
  • Freedom is inseparable from responsibility. If I have the freedom to think, it is my responsibility to think positively. If I have the freedom to speak, it is my responsibility to speak properly and meaningfully. If I have the freedom to act, it is my responsibility to act correctly. I have no right to excise my freedom to breach other’s privacy.
  • If you don't want to take responsibility, you can't have freedom either. If you shun responsibility, you have to accept slavery in some way or other.
  • Freedom of choice which means freedom to choose, to act in this way or that way, to do good and evil. Every individual’s freedom is limited by the others.
  • Nothing can satisfy a human need and greed (be it for freedom as well). Extreme freedom results in catastrophe and responsibilities prevent it.
  • Those who do not have enough freedom will inevitably crave more of it.
  • Freedom is just not limited to speech, thought, follow a particular religion etc but freedom from fear, anxiety, worry etc are also equally important. Freedom is an amazing thing, but as with most amazing things, too much of it can be more than you bargained for. Especially if you’re not prepared to handle it.
  • There is an important dimension to freedom that is often forgotten: freedom of will.
  • Our freedom may be constrained and our choices limited, in the moment when we choose, we experience freedom.
  • True freedom is closely linked to self-control. Only a self-disciplined person can decide to do something and accomplish it. True freedom is the freedom to follow one’s conscience and maintain one’s personal integrity. This is freedom of will. It leads to more of a sense of liberation and fulfillment.
  • The joy of freedom is not only to be able to choose, but to be able to choose well—to choose the right and the good, and be responsible for the outcome rather than blaming.
People like freedom because it gives them a sense of mastery over things and people. They dislike responsibility because it constrains them from satisfying their desires. Every thought, word and deed in our lives shapes our character. We create our own character through the decisions we make.

Justice and its delivery

Corruption is hampering the delivery of justice globally. People perceive the judiciary as the second most corrupt public service, after the police. We in India, have been living with less than efficient judicial remedy system. Some reasons are restraint of contempt notice threat, corruption prevailing in courts, incompetent level of delivery pattern of our judiciary and lack of awareness even after 70 years of self rule.
  • A transparent and accountable judiciary to deliver justice for all. The integrity, independence, and impartiality of the judiciary are preconditions for fair and effective access to justice and for the protection of human rights. Discrimination and corrupt practices often prevent citizens, especially the poor and marginalized, from equitable opportunities and protection of their rights.
  • More than 75% of the Indians have never visited courts while near 100% have visited doctors  and huge majority have visited schools or temples / churches / mosques and little lesser to colleges and employment offices.
  • Vast majority have never tested the efficacy of the judicial system. Our judges and judicial officers are crying for help as the work seems piling and becoming unmanageable, what will then be the case if litigation intensity rises?
  • The bitter truth is that our courts are court of law and not a court of justice. Some may disagree because it is the law and order that justice is incidental to. If you get proof beyond reasonable doubt, about your innocence, the court shall provide you with justice.
  • To achieve justice, to prove the truth, it takes time. The judge doesn’t know what has happened. He or she has to learn, listen to both sides, and with the corroboration of evidence beyond reasonable doubt, make a decision. Extreme justice is often injustice.
  • Even though the power is in the hands of the bench, its members cannot unplug the Constitution.
  • The truism, justice delayed is justice denied, is easy to cite. But to be in that chair surrounded by thousands of provisions and arguments, and eyes looking for justice, it is not easy to make decisions that are not just in favour of what is right, but also in the interest of the public at large.
  • What if, in haste, an innocent person is punished — it would be the most horrendous crime. Instead, let the crime of the guilty go unpunished, than an innocent person being condemned.
  • Our judicial system is so opaque and money centered. Even a simple bail and case settlement is often decided and determined based on the person's capacity in financial terms and political poweress.
  • It is not a coincidence that all criminal and politically sensitive cases of those in power are always in the back burner and this happen without fail.

Corruption undermines justice in many parts of the world with the poor and vulnerable suffering most. We need justice delivery system that works round-the-year, speedy and free - like public hospitals. To achieve this the judiciary infrastructure must be modernized and upgraded. Judge-to-people ratio should be increased from the present 18 to at least 50 per million people. With the states failing to spend adequately on providing the required infrastructure and adequate number of trained personnel by way of judges and staff, the judiciary can hardly be blamed from the enormous backlog of cases that has been built up to whopping 28 million pending cases. The justice delivery system failure has led to mafia, musclemen, politicians and policemen settling the disputes and collecting hefty amounts from all the aggrieved parties.

Income grows, when you grow

  • Income is materialistic and quantitative representation of your success.
  • As you earn more, you succeed. But without success there is no monetary benefit.
  • To be rich, to earn more and to make the income grow, one needs to grow & succeed.
  • Success comes to those who grow rapidly both as a person and as an employee as well.
  • It’s all about the mindset and the personality you develop. So your developments, your prosperity is in your hand. The faster you develop those skills, personalities and competencies, the easier it will be for you to grow and earn more.
  • The moment when you become comfortable in your zone, you cease to grow.
  • The more you plan and procrastinate, the longer you will take to grow.
  • Invest in your academics in early day. This will facilitate your entire career. A full time course from a renowned institute always adds value. Work hard to crack those premium institutes. You professional prospect will be limitless in those colleges.
  • Identify your weaknesses and strength. The sooner you figure that out, the better for you. Work on the weaknesses and try to improve them. Hone your strengths for further improvement.
  • Networking, strong determination and integrity are other three factors which help in overall growth and development. Lastly, a sound financial knowledge is mandatory to earn, save. Invest and thereby grow.
  • So once you are aware of the right mix of the above ingredients, you start growing. This growth needs to continue till the time you breathe your last.
  • Learning new subjects, language has always been proved beneficial. Upgrading and honing technical skills and competencies need to happen simultaneously with your full time job.
  • Massive layoff in IT firms for the past few months is due to obsolescence of the existing skill-sets. Those paid off employees are opting for courses for their career growth or just to bag a job immediately. However in such scenarios, it is always advisable to be pro-active than reactive.
  • The day you stop learning and growing, your career will go for a toss.
  • You gather knowledge, experience and skill, the industry will be ready to grab you with the best compensation or you will be ready to come up with a unique idea for entrepreneurship.
  • Be unique and strong in whatever your strength is. That will differentiate you from the rest of the workforce and help you brand yourself to the industry.
  • The concluding advice is don’t run after money, concentrate on your own growth and money will follow.

Everything good in life is either immoral, illegal or fattening ... Nicole Richie
He who wishes become millionaire in a year will get hanged in two years.

My View:
Money is not that difficult to earn. Look at the people who earn money effortlessly by connections and manipulations. Money is only difficult to earn ethically, morally & legally. Compromise in all these three, then money will flood you. God seldom gives riches to good people. Morality is generally incompatible with amassing wealth. Most wealthy people in this world have committed some kind of abuse on society or nature in their path to riches. No good man has ever become rich.

Trust

Trust is defined as assured reliance on the character, ability, strength, or truth of someone or something. And one in which confidence is placed.

Trust is fundamental to life. If you cannot trust in anything, life becomes intolerable, a constant battle against paranoia and looming disaster. You can’t have relationships without trust. Intimacy depends on it. People claim to be overworked and under constant pressure don’t delegate, because they don’t trust people to do what they’ve been asked to do; so they have to take on every significant task themselves. It’s not the pressure of actual work that’s driving them towards some stress-related illness, it’s their lack of trust in anyone and anything. Trust has to start somewhere. Why not with you? Why not today? Why not right now?
  • Trust is a rare commodity these days.
  • Trust affects a leader’s impact and the company’s bottom line more than any other single thing.
  • It's a mistake for a leader to assume that others trust him simply by virtue of his title.
  • Trust must be earned, and it takes time.
  • You will be trusted as leader, only to the degree that people believe in your ability, consistency, integrity, and commitment to deliver.
  • You can earn trust over time, by building and maintaining eight key strengths:
    (1) Clarity: People trust the clear and mistrust or distrust the ambiguous.
    (2) Compassion: People put faith in those who care beyond themselves.
    (3) Character: Do what is right ahead of what is easy.
    (4) Contribution: Few things build trust quicker than actual results.
    (5) Competency: Stay fresh, relevant, and capable.
    (6) Connection: People want to follow, buy from, and be around friends.
    (7) Commitment: People believe in those who stand through adversity.
    (8) Consistency: Little things done consistently makes big difference.
  • Commitment builds trust.
  • You can have compassion and character, but without the results you promised, people won’t trust you.
  • The key competency is the ability to learn amid chaos.
  • Arrogance attitude prevent you from growing, and compromises others’ confidence in you.
  • Trust is all about relationships, and relationships are best built by establishing genuine connection. Ask questions, listen, and above all, show gratitude. Grateful people are not entitled to complaining and gossiping.
  • Do the little things, consistently. The great leaders consistently do the small but most important things first. The little things done consistently make for a higher level of trust and better results.
Trust can’t be built overnight. It requires time, effort, diligence, and character. Inspiring trust is not slick or easy to fake. Focus on these eight components with every action, you will foster trusted relationships with employees, customers, suppliers, or fellow leaders that will drive results.

Intimate sharing among strangers is a fact. Trust can exist among strangers. Trust and discretion exist among strangers online when sufficient information exists to act as social cues for trustworthiness or connections to other individuals for whom the trustworthiness decision has already been made.

Trust is a funny thing like love and life;
you never really know you can trust some one until you know you can't;
you won't know if you don't try.

My View:
Most people are trust worthy to certain extent. Some people fail miserably. But it is worth while to get along life with majority trustworthy people, until one proves untrustworthy. Otherwise, one ends up doing everything without discretion and delegation and can't grow or collapse under own weight. Trust is sometimes confused with naivete or hallowed by optimism, but trust and its corollary discretion, are what makes social interaction possible. Everyone is out for themselves subconsciously. They will sell you out the moment they are tempted with riches or power. However, checks and balances mitigates risks involved. No one is trustworthy one hundred percent except spouse.

Story: Just too good!

At the point of death, a man, Tom Smith, called his children and he advised them to follow his footsteps so that they can have peace of mind in all that they do..
His daughter, Sara, said,
"Daddy, its unfortunate you are dying without a penny in your bank..
Other fathers' that you tag as being corrupt, thieves of public funds left houses and properties for their children; even this house we live in is a rented apartment..
Sorry, I can't emulate you, just go, let's chart our own course..
Few moments later, their father gave up the spirit..

Three years later, Sara went for an interview in a multinational company..
At interview the Chairman of the committee asked,
"Which Smith are you..??"
Sara replied,
"I am Sara Smith. My Dad Tom Smith is now late.."
Chairman cuts in,
"O my God, you are Tom Smith's daughter..?"
He turned to the  other members and said,
"This Smith man was the one that signed my membership form into the Institute of Administrators and his recommendation earned me where I am today. He did all these free. I didn't even know his address, he never knew me. He just did it for me.."
He turned to Sara,
"I have no questions for you, consider yourself as having gotten this job, come tomorrow, your letter will be waiting for you.."
Sara Smith became the Corporate Affairs Manager of the company with two Cars with Drivers, A duplex attached to the office, and a salary of £1,00,000 per month excluding allowances and other costs..
After two years of working in the company, the MD of the company came from America to announce his intention to resign and needed a replacement. A personality with high integrity was sought after, again the company's Consultant nominated Sara Smith..

In an interview, she was asked the secret of her success,,
With tears, she replied, "My Daddy paved these ways for me. It was after he died that I knew that he was financially poor but stinkingly rich in integrity, discipline and honesty".
She was asked again, why she is weeping since she is no longer a kid as to miss her dad still after a long time..
She replied, "At the point of death, I insulted my dad for being an honest man of integrity. I hope he will forgive me in his grave now. I didn't work for all these, he did it for me to just walk in".
So, finally she was asked, "Will you follow your father's foot steps as he requested ?"
And her simple answer was, "l now adore the man, I have a big picture of him in my living room and at the entrance of my house. He deserves whatever I have after God".

Are you like Tom Smith..?
It pays to build a name, the reward doesn't come quickly but it will come however long it may take and it lasts longer..
Integrity, discipline, self control and fear of God makes a man wealthy, not the fat bank account..
Leave a good heritage for your children..
